Restaurant De Chiengmai, Sungai Buloh

Restaurant De Chiengmai, Sg. Buloh

It was another wet and gloomy Tuesday. I have just finished watching the latest edition of the ever so boring "Twilight" sequels or prequels (i dont really care coz it never seems to end) and i was really hungry. I had skipped breakfast because i dont want to be late for the movie that starts at 11.30 am. So, i wandered around inside Mid Valley Megamall in search of a place to eat. Nothing seems to be able to attract me and the crowd during lunch hour is massive. I decided to get out of the crowded shopping mall and have my lunch somewhere else. As i get into the car, a friend suggested this great Thai Restauant called Restaurant De Chiengmai. There was no objection and off we go. It was raining heavily and the traffic to Sg.Buloh via the Penchala Tunnel and MRR2 is quite bad. But, because of so much great reviews of this place, i decided to toughen up and suck it up.
What was supposed to be a 30 minutes drive from Mid Valley Megamall, took us about 1 hour that day.

The Restaurant is located in a quite secluded area in Sg. Buloh. It is surrounded by nurseries of plants and flowers. Very pleasing to the eye.
The decoration of its exterior looks a lot loke a traditional Siamese Palace with bridges going across man-made pond. The ambience is very nice.

Main Entrance :)

Enough of the non sense. Now, it's time to order and eat.

Otak -Otak
This was our appetizer for that day. Far from the usual otak-otak that we usually see in pasar malam or other food stalls. This is the authentic Siamese otak-otak. It is quite spice with generous amount of fresh shrimp, cabbage and squid inside. A very "lively" appetizer.

Mixed Tom Yam
A visit to a Thai Restaurant wont be complete without ordering Tom Yam. This is the most authentic Tom Yam i have tasted to date. The spice, the thickness of the broth and the flavour is just awesome. It is not for the faint hearted though.

Steamed Siakap Thai style
The Steamed Siakap tasted good. But it doesn't struck my taste buds like the one i ate in most of the Chinese Restaurant. The Thai style have  more unique flavour that i cant really explain. Dont get me wrong, it is still a good dish but i just loved the Chinesse style more. :p

Udang Celup Tepung
This is certainly my favourite dish. The shrimp is crispy. It is served together with a home made onion rings and its special dipping sauce. Awesome!! A must try for everyone.

I had a wonderful time here in this Restaurant. The surroundings, the ambience, the food, the service. Everything is top notch. If you are looking to have your lunch far from the hectic KL, or if you want to bring your client, or corporate lunch or maybe even your personal functions with a little bit of "Thai twist". this is definitely the place to be. Ample parking spaces. Owh and i forgot to mention that the Restaurant is Air Conditioned. Below is the address and map if you want to give it a try..
